The Top Five Riskiest US Cities to Live in

Some cities stand out for a less desirable cause than others in a country famed for its dynamic populations and diversified landscapes: high rates of crime. While there are plenty of cultural and economic opportunities in many American cities, others struggle mightily to keep their citizens safe. According to Norada Real Estate Investments, these are the top five riskiest US cities to reside in, where high crime rates have become an urgent issue.

Detroit Michigan

Detroit, also referred to as the “Motor City,” has long been plagued with murders, robberies, and cases of serious violence. Detroit is one of the most hazardous cities in the US due to the high incidence of gang activity and firearms.

To lessen gun violence in the city, the Detroit Police Department introduced a 12-Point Plan at the beginning of 2023. Even with ongoing regeneration initiatives, crime, especially violent and property crimes, remains a major problem in some districts.

St. Louis, Missouri

St. Louis has a reputation for being one of the most dangerous cities in the country because of its continuous high crime rates, especially when it comes to violent crimes. In addition, the city is facing an epidemic of gun violence because of the ease of access to firearms and the dearth of local resources.

Baltimore Maryland

Baltimore suffers from high rates of violent crime, including homicides and non-fatal shootings, despite its rich history and cultural accomplishments. In Baltimore, drug-related violence has also been pervasive, particularly given the city’s closeness to important drug trafficking routes.

Some community organizations in Baltimore have started programs like rehabilitation for criminals and support for at-risk youngsters to combat the city’s escalating crime statistics.

Oakland, California

Even though Oakland is a part of the prosperous San Francisco Bay Area, it has a bad image for having high crime rates. The city is routinely ranked among the nation’s most deadly.

Property crime and violent crimes are problems in Oakland, with certain neighborhoods having higher rates of criminal activity than others. Among the most common difficulties in the city are gang violence and drug trafficking, which are caused by societal issues like addiction, poverty, a lack of affordable housing, and a lack of job prospects.

Memphis Tennessee

High rates of robberies, assaults, and homicides are regularly reported in the city. The city is home to several street gangs that deal in drugs and get into violent altercations over territory.
